Vidin

Vidin is one of the oldest towns in Bulgaria, with a population of approximately 32,000. It is situated on a huge bend on the Danube, in the Northwest parts of Bulgaria. Beyond the water Romania is visible. Situated 200km from Sofia it is a bustling town with a long and varied history.

The Moslem influence from the colonial times has left a sign in the form of its architecture, particularly the numerous mosques. Being a regional capital, the town has good transport links. A bridge across the Danube linking Bulgaria and Romania is currently under construction.
